*John M Last in 1988 states that
" The study of distribution and determinants of health related States or events in a specified population and applications of this study to control health problems.

Epidemiology Triad :
The triad consists of an external agent, a susceptible host, and an environment that brings the host and agent together.
Uses of epidemiology :

Community diagnosis
Planning and evaluation
Evaluation risk and chances
Cause and risk
Terminology:
*Infection( The invasion and growth of germs in the body.)
*Contamination (to make impure or unfit for use by adding something harmful or unpleasant )
*Infectious disease(disorders caused by organisms — such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites)
* Contagious disease( Infectious diseases that spread from person to person)
*Communicate disease (illnesses that spread from one person to another or from an animal to a person , or from surface or food)
*Epidemic
*Endemic
*Sporadic
*Pandemic ( when it is spread world wide example COVID 19)
*Exotic
